BBC Breakfast presenter Jon Kay took to social media on Tuesday to make a heartfelt announcement

BBC Breakfast’s Jon Kay took to Instagram to announce the departure of one of his colleagues.

Sharing a photo of Sally Nugent and Breakfast producer Lucy, Jon wrote: “It’s Lucy’s last day as a staff producer on Breakfast. She’s off to develop her podcast @fromalancashirelass.”

On Tuesday’s BBC Breakfast, Jon welcomed back Sally Nugent, who had been on leave. During her absence, various presenters filled in, including Luxmy Gopal and Sarah Campbell, with Ben Thompson stepping up as the main presenter.

Carol Kirkwood was the first to welcome Sally back on Tuesday morning. “It’s great to have you back, Sal,” she said, to which Sally replied, “Thank you. It’s lovely to be back.”

Later in the show, Jon echoed Carol’s sentiment, saying, “It’s lovely to have you back.”

Sally responded, “Aw, it’s lovely to be back,” reports the Express.

Jon said goodbye to one of his co-stars

Viewers were also pleased to see Sally return, with one social media user commenting: “Sally looks nice and tanned after her holiday #bbcbreakfast.”

A third chimed in with, “It’s great to have Sally back.”

Although Sally didn’t publicly discuss her absence, she kept her followers updated on her activities while away.

At the start of the month, Sally posted numerous photos from her birthday celebrations, which appeared to explain her absence from television in recent weeks.

Sally, who marked her 54th birthday, shared birthday wishes from her mates on her Instagram Stories, along with a photo of herself celebrating the event.
