The Duke of Hastings is trading Regency-era ballrooms for modern-day Los Angeles intrigue. Regé-Jean Page, whose smoldering performance as Simon Basset in the first season of Bridgerton turned him into an overnight global heartthrob, is officially heading back to Netflix for Hancock Park, a new erotic thriller series that’s already generating massive buzz.
Announced on December 2, 2025, the project marks Page’s first major television role since exiting Bridgerton in 2021 and his return to the streaming giant that launched him to superstardom. He’ll not only star but also serve as an executive producer through his production company, A Mighty Stranger.
Netflix describes Hancock Park as “an erotic thriller that follows a dangerously charismatic outsider, who invades the lives of a seemingly picture-perfect Los Angeles family — when he rents their backyard guest house.” As the stranger delves deeper into their world, “the façade of this elite community begins to crumble, and he exposes the desire, deceit, and obsession that lurks around every corner of one of LA’s most-coveted neighborhoods.”
The series takes its name from Hancock Park, the historic and ultra-affluent Los Angeles enclave known for its grand mansions and high-profile residents — including Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos and Bridgerton executive producer Shonda Rhimes, who once called the area home. Sources say the project landed at Netflix after a heated bidding war involving three major streamers, underscoring the high demand for Page-led content.
Written by Welsh screenwriter Matthew Barry — whose credits include HBO’s cutthroat finance drama Industry, Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and the recent BBC thriller The Guest — Hancock Park is being executive produced by Drew Comins (Yellowjackets, All the Old Knives) through his Creative Engine banner, alongside Fifth Season. Emily Brown, Page’s partner at A Mighty Stranger, also serves as an EP.
Page will portray the enigmatic outsider, a role tailored to his magnetic screen presence. While plot details remain tightly guarded, the logline promises a potent mix of psychological tension, forbidden attraction, and upper-crust secrets — think Fatal Attraction meets Big Little Lies with the glossy, desire-fueled edge that made Bridgerton‘s ballroom scenes appointment viewing.
For Page, 37, this represents a full-circle moment. His portrayal of the brooding Duke opposite Phoebe Dynevor’s Daphne Bridgerton in 2020 helped make Bridgerton Season 1 one of Netflix’s biggest hits ever, ranking among the streamer’s most-watched English-language series and movies. The chemistry-heavy romance earned him an Emmy nomination and turned him into a sex symbol practically overnight.
Yet Page shocked fans by departing after one season, later explaining that he always viewed the role as a limited arc. “It was very much a one-season thing,” he told Variety in 2021. “I get to come in, contribute my bit, and then the Bridgerton family rolls on.” Since then, he’s deliberately pivoted to film, appearing in high-profile projects like the Russo Brothers’ The Gray Man (another Netflix title, opposite Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans), Paramount’s fantasy adventure Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, Steven Soderbergh’s spy thriller Black Bag alongside Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender, and the upcoming romantic comedy You, Me & Tuscany with Halle Bailey, set for release in April 2026.
Despite the film focus, Page never fully severed ties with Netflix — The Gray Man kept him in the family — and insiders say the streamer has been eager to reunite with him for a starring vehicle. Hancock Park fits perfectly, allowing Page to lean into the adult, charismatic roles that play to his strengths while exploring darker, more contemporary territory.
The erotic thriller genre has seen a resurgence in recent years, fueled by streaming hits like Deep Water, Fair Play, and international sensations such as Dark Desire. Netflix, in particular, has doubled down on steamy, sophisticated fare — from Bridgerton itself to Elite and Sex/Life. Bringing back Page, whose Bridgerton scenes still rack up millions of views on social media, feels like a calculated move to recapture that lightning in a bottle, but with a modern, psychological twist.
No director or additional cast members have been announced yet, and the series remains in active development without a production start date. Given Page’s packed schedule — including ongoing development on a Count of Monte Cristo adaptation and Apple TV+’s Funny You Should Ask — filming likely won’t begin until mid-2026 at the earliest, positioning Hancock Park for a potential 2027 premiere.
The announcement has already sent social media into overdrive. Fans who mourned Page’s Bridgerton exit are celebrating his TV return, with many joking that Netflix “knew exactly what we wanted” by pairing the actor with an “erotic thriller.” X (formerly Twitter) trends quickly popped up under hashtags like #RegeJeanPageReturns and #HancockPark, with users sharing thirsty memes and speculating about co-stars — names like Sydney Sweeney, Glen Powell, and Ana de Armas have been floated in fan-casting threads.
Critics and industry watchers see the project as a smart evolution for Page. After proving his blockbuster chops in action and fantasy, Hancock Park lets him headline a prestige drama with the kind of morally ambiguous, seductive antihero role that could earn awards attention. It’s also a reunion of sorts with the Shonda Rhimes-adjacent world, given the Hancock Park neighborhood’s ties to the Bridgerton boss.
Netflix has yet to release first-look images or a teaser, but the streamer’s Tudum site promises more details soon. In the meantime, fans are rewatching Bridgerton Season 1 and The Gray Man, eager for any hint of what’s next.
Page, repped by UTA, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, and Shelter PR, has stayed relatively quiet on social media about the news, but his past comments suggest he’s excited about character-driven stories. “I like playing complicated people,” he told GQ in 2024. If Hancock Park delivers on its promise, his “dangerously charismatic outsider” could be the most complicated — and captivating — yet.
As Hollywood continues its love affair with wealth-porn thrillers exposing the rot beneath privilege, Hancock Park positions itself as a premium addition to the canon. With Regé-Jean Page at the center, Netflix might just have its next obsession-worthy hit.
Hancock Park is in development at Netflix. No premiere date has been set. The series stars and is executive produced by Regé-Jean Page, written by Matthew Barry, and executive produced by Drew Comins and Emily Brown.
