Providence police released new images of a “person of interest” tied to the Brown University mass shooting Monday evening as officials attempted to calm growing anxiety that the gunman is still on the loose.
The series of new videos is the most revealing images of the man police are pursuing, showing him dressed in dark clothing with a black face mask hiding most of his mug.
One of the clips shows him milling outside near campus a few hours before the shooting, while other images show a side profile of the possible shooter walking on a sidewalk.
An FBI flier described the person as around 5-foot-8 with a stocky build.
The desperate manhunt was already more than two days old Monday — and it comes after police said they had a person of interest in custody Sunday — only to cut that man loose hours later after determining he wasn’t involved.
Cops also initially claimed they had someone in custody right after the shooting, but that announcement was later retracted.
The shooting killed two promising students — sophomore Ella Cook, 19, and freshman Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov, 18.
Another nine victims were wounded.
“We want to see the individual that pulled the trigger on these kids identified, apprehended and brought to justice,” said Rhode Island Gov. Dan McKee during a Monday evening press conference.

Blurry surveillance video released earlier in the day shows the suspected shooter walking near campus.
Police presence was ramped up Monday in a move to calm frayed nerves across Brown University and the surrounding community.
Still, for some residents it wasn’t enough.
“It’s all just so strange. First, they think they caught the guy — then, somehow, they discovered, oops, they had the wrong guy. And now they’re acting like we have nothing to worry about, when nothing has actually changed,” resident Cherly Walker, 52, told The Post.
“Why is everyone so calm? Shouldn’t we be on lockdown? If there’s a manhunt going on, you’d expect cops everywhere, checkpoints. If there’s a manhunt, I don’t see it.”
A Brown grad student acknowledged the school community was still a little nervous, even as the rest of classes and final exams were called off in the aftermath of the shooting.
“Theoretically, there’s a killer on the loose,” said Reyan, who declined to give his last name. “I don’t want to put the police down, though it does seem a little strange that they didn’t catch the guy.”
As proof that the Ocean State is on pins and needles — a report of a shooting on Monday attracted a massive police response, only for cops to realize it was a backfiring boiler.

Public schools were open, but after-school activities were canceled.
Providence Mayor Brett Smiley admitted the shooting “has shaken us,” but reassured the city that “this community will heal from this.”
Before the new footage was released, Providence police said its officers were going to house-to-house in the hopes of finding footage that could help the probe.
Providence Police Chief Col. Oscar Perez said at Monday’s news briefing the investigation into the shooting was “active” and “complex,” calling it an “all-hands-on-deck” effort by local, state and federal agencies.
Ted Docks, FBI agent in charge for the Boston Field Office, revealed the federal agency was offering a $50,000 award for information that helps lead to the killer.
Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha said new footage was coming in quicker on Monday and stressed the probe was progressing forward.
“We’re learning more about his movements as we gather additional video evidence,” he said.
