Viewers of David Muir’s World News Tonight are bidding “farewell” to the anchor as they launch their boycott of ABC, following the network’s choice to suspend Jimmy Kimmel for his recent remarks about Charlie Kirk.

On Sept. 17, ABC removed Jimmy Kimmel Live! from the airwaves “indefinitely,” hours after the FCC chief hinted the network’s broadcast license was at risk due to Kimmel’s statements during his opening monologue for Monday night’s program.

While some viewers of Muir’s show on Sept. 18 expressed their outrage at ABC, others joined the discussion to criticize how Muir reported the story and suggested he’s next to face consequences. Meanwhile, fans previously made a realization after Muir showed ‘chilling’ Charlie Kirk footage.

Posting to X, formerly Twitter, one person declared, “So long, David Muir. ABC s—– you, too,” as another chimed in, “Good bye David Muir I’m not watching abc again and good bye Disney anything.”, reports the Mirror US.

A third also bid Muir farewell, writing, “So long GMA, The View, General Hospital, David Muir, Disney,Hulu and anything else associated with Nexstar. I can and will survive without you!” A fourth commented, “Won’t watch ABC ever. Will miss watching David Muir news.”

Someone else questioned, “What’s next? Is @ABC going to cancel @ABC because Trump threatens David Muir with defamation? ? What a joke. I’m switching to @NBCNews.”

Several viewers, who are also boycotting ABC, expressed their desire for Muir to leave the network. One disgruntled viewer stated, “I am done with ABC…I wish someone like David Muir would walk on them,” while another added, “Not watching ABC, If David Muir doesn’t bail ship, he’s a fool and I’ll be sad that those are his true colors.”

Some believe Muir is next in line for dismissal, with one irate viewer declaring, “ABC WORLD NEWS TONITE YOU AND DAVID MUIR IS NEXT.” However, some were upset with how Muir reported the story, which involves World News Tonight’s parent company.

One viewer noted, “Kimmel was the lead story on both NBC Nightly News and CBS Evening News. World News Tonight had it as their second story, behind the CDC panel votes on vaccines.”

Another wrote, “Does @ABCWorldNews hack David Muir ever tell the truth? Jimmy Kimmel was cancelled (by @ABC) for falsely saying it was a MAGA man who shot Charlie Kirk. Just another lie by the @abcnews clowns.”

A third chimed in, “ABC News tonight was unable to report the Jimmy Kimmel debacle without bias. I could see David Muir barely able to contain himself when reporting it. Too bad.” Yet another vented, “My wife makes me endure ABC news at night. David Muir and team are calling Kimmel’s departure as an ‘infringement on free speech.’ Never a mention of what freedom of speech means – govt can’t infringe but a business can fire an employee hurting its brand.”

During his Monday appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Kimmel suggested that Tyler Robinson, the individual charged with fatally shooting Kirk at his Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University on September 10, belonged to President Donald Trump’s MAGA – Make America Great Again – movement.
